This working group was set up in July 2006 within the Urban Specialist Group of IUCN's World Commission on Protected Areas (WCPA). It is cochaired by Pedro da Cunha e Menezes of Brazil, Brett Myrdal of South Africa, and Glen Hyman of France and the United States. Its members are indicated by a "(u)" on the list of specialist group members.

The working group has arranged for exchanges of managers of urban protected areas, particularly in the global South, and has organized and participated in meetings around the world. A major objective is producing a volume on management of urban protected areas. Details will be posted on this page as work moves forward.
